ANNUAL OPERATING COSTS RATES

from "What to Expect in Your 2023 Monthly Electric Bill"

In January 2023, RMLD announced an increase to the 2023 rates associated with its annual operating costs. RMLD’s operating budget increased by 16 percent in 2023 compared to 2022. This is driven by continued infrastructure investments to support decarbonization in accordance with the 2021 Massachusetts climate legislation.

Annual operating cost rates include:

Distribution-related charges – Funds the operation and maintenance of the distribution network system (wires, poles, transformers, etc.), and increased in 2023 to support accelerated upgrades to ensure the system is equipped to handle higher electricity loads as customers electrify their homes and businesses.

Efficiency and Electrification Charge (formerly known as the Energy Conservation Charge) – Funds energy efficiency, electrification, rebate, and incentive programs, and increased in 2023 to support customers as they increase efficiency and electrify their homes and businesses.
