RMLD Launches "Current Insights" Podcast: A Deep Dive into the Future of Reliable, Affordable, and Sustainable Electricity

New RMLD Podcast Available on Major Podcast Platforms and YouTube

[READING, MA, SEPTEMBER 27, 2023] — The Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) in collaboration with Wilmington Community Access Television has launched a biweekly podcast, "Current Insights," which will take its audience behind the scenes of RMLD while showcasing the forward-thinking strategies, innovative technologies, and dedicated people that further the utility’s mission to provide reliable, low-cost and noncarbon electricity to its customers.

Hosted by RMLD General Manager, Greg Phipps, each episode of "Current Insights" will feature engaging discussions with RMLD staff and industry experts. The first episode, titled “RMLD’s Power Supply and the Trail to Decarbonization” features RMLD Integrated Resource Director Bill Bullock who sheds light on the different types of energy sources that power RMLD and how the utility’s power supply affects reliability and cost. Each episode will close with a customer question, and RMLD encourages community members to email their questions to podcast@rmld.com to be featured on the podcast.

“We are excited for the opportunity to launch this cutting-edge podcast.  It is another communication channel with our valued customers, allowing us to share more of the innovative solutions that the RMLD is deploying to responsibly accelerate our journey toward decarbonization,” said RMLD General Manager Greg Phipps. “Both federal and state regulation and legislation are driving seismic changes in the energy markets, and we are optimistic in leading our customers on this uncharted journey in the evolving energy landscape.”

During the 24-episode first season, listeners can expect:

  • Exclusive Interviews: "Current Insights" will feature candid conversations with RMLD staff, providing firsthand accounts of the utility's initiatives, challenges, and successes. In addition, industry experts will join the podcast to offer insights into the broader energy landscape.
  • Innovative Initiatives: The podcast will delve deep into RMLD's projects and sustainability initiatives aimed at decarbonizing RMLD’s power supply and enhancing service reliability.
  • The Future of Energy: As the energy industry evolves, "Current Insights" will explore the latest trends, technologies, and regulatory changes that are shaping the future of electricity.

The podcast's first episode was released on September 27, 2023 and new episodes will be available twice a month on major podcast platforms and on RMLD’s YouTube channel.
