RMLD Invites Customers to Attend Electric Vehicle Charging Strategies Webinar on February 1, 2022 at 7:00 pm

The event is the latest in RMLD’s educational webinar series.

Reading, MA, January 11, 2022 – The Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) invites its customers to attend a webinar on Electric Vehicle Charging Strategies on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 7:00 pm. The event is free, but those interested in attending are asked to register. The goal of the webinar is to reduce barriers to electric vehicle (EV) adoption by educating customers on charging.

The webinar will cover charging strategies, types of EV chargers, available RMLD rebates, and available RMLD electric rates. An industry expert will make a brief presentation on the latest trends in electric vehicle charging.

Examples of charging strategies for three distinct scenarios will also be covered with the help of panelists who are RMLD customers and EV owners:

  • Local driving – options for charging when the vehicle is primarily used locally to run errands, make school drop-offs, etc.
  • Commuting – options for charging when the vehicle is used to travel to and from work in addition to other daily uses
  • Long Distance – options for charging on a long-distance road trip

A question-and-answer session will close out the webinar.  The session will be recorded and posted on RMLD’s website for those unable to attend live.

Plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) offer many benefits to traditional gas-powered vehicles including reduced operating costs for drivers and reduced carbon emissions. PEV adoption has steadily increased in recent years, thanks to improvements in battery technology, more vehicle options, expanded charging infrastructure, and increased public awareness.

Increasing the adoption of PEVs is an important component in RMLD’s ongoing electrification efforts, as well as overall carbon reduction efforts across the Commonwealth. To aid in the adoption of PEVs, RMLD offers rebates to customers who install a qualified charging station at their home or business.
