Turn energy insights into financial incentives.
Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) offers a financial incentive to qualifying non-residential customers who conduct a professional energy assessment of their business. The assessment must be conducted by a third party.
Qualifying customers are eligible for a rebate of up to one-half of the cost of an ASHRAE Level 2 or equivalent energy audit, up to $5,000. If the customer then implements energy efficiency measures recommended by the audit, they are eligible for a rebate of the remainder of the cost of the audit, up to $5,000 (Total maximum rebate $10,000).
The assessment should include:
- Analysis of building and utility data, including study of the installed equipment and analysis of energy bills.
- The survey of the real operating conditions.
- The selection and the evaluation of energy conservation measures.
- The estimation of annual energy and demand saving potential
Prior to the audit, the customer should email a quote for preliminary review and pre-approval. Once RMLD sends written pre-approval, the customer should complete the assessment and send the following to RMLD:
- The final paid invoice
- A copy of the audit report
Please email RMLD's Integrated Resources for more information.
Noteworthy changes from the previous version of the program:
May 5, 2025 - Changed requirement to ASHRAE Level 2, and updated assessment requirements.
