Residential Rebates
Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) offers a variety of energy efficiency, conservation, and electrification programs to help keep rates affordable and reduce our impact. Rebates are a key part of our effort to promote electrification and sustainable practices.
The rebates detailed here encourage residential customers to purchase energy-efficient equipment that they otherwise may not have considered without a rebate. Select the rebate title for additional details and application process information, and requirements.
Residential Customer Rebates

| Electric Panel Upgrade Rebate | Who is eligible: RMLD customers who upgrade their panel to a higher amperage. Goal: To promote electrification by supporting customers who need to increase the amperage of their electrical panel to accommodate additional load due to the installation of an electric vehicle (EV) charger, heat pump, or other electrical equipment. | $500 |
| Heat Pump Rebate or 0% Interest Loan | Who is eligible: RMLD Residential customers who install heat pumps at their primary home in RMLD territory. Goal: To promote electrification and reduce net carbon emissions. |

| Residential & Small Commercial Solar Rebate (<20 kW) | Who is eligible: RMLD qualifying customers who install a grid-connected solar system at their home that is less than 20 kilowatts (kW) in size. Goal: To reduce net carbon emissions and fulfill compliance obligations. | $600 per kilowatt |
| Electric Vehicle Charger Rebate | Who is eligible: RMLD customers who purchase an EV charger that is installed at their residence within RMLD’s service territory. Goal: To promote electrification and reduce net carbon emissions. | Up to $750 |
| Energy Star Certified Appliance Rebate | Who is eligible: RMLD customers who purchase and install eligible EnergyStar-certified appliances. Eligible Appliances include EnergyStar-certified electric snowblowers, EnergyStar-certified electric ranges, and EnergyStar-certified wireless thermostats. Goal: To promote energy efficiency. | $50 - $125 per appliance |
| Load Management Device Rebate | Who is eligible: Residential customers who purchase a Load Management Device and install the device at their residence within RMLD’s service territory. Goal: To promote a reduction in peak energy use to help reduce carbon emissions and control rates. | Up to 50% of the total equipment costs. Maximum incentive: $1,200 |
