Load Management Device Rebate
Program Details
Eligible Customer Class: Residential
Description: To promote electrification and reduce net carbon emissions, RMLD offers a rebate to residential customers who purchase a Load Management Device that is installed at their residence within RMLD's service territory.
Incentive Amount: 100% of equipment costs up to $1,200 (excluding tax). Wiring, labor, and installation costs are not eligible.
Maximum Incentive: $1,200
Rebate Limitations: Limit one rebate per customer every five years.
Load management devices that allow for demand response/load reduction:
- These can include smart electrical panels, circuit control units, smart circuit breakers and relays, or outlet splitters that manage household loads.
- They are installed between the utility meter and the load source, to shut off, reduce or modulate the usage of the load source.
- Eligible devices must have Wi-Fi connectivity or other networking capabilities so that RMLD can access the device data.
- Eligible devices should be compatible with different brands of load sources.
- The customer shall enroll in the RMLD's Residential Time-of-Use Schedule A2 Rate for a minimum of one year.
- The customer shall provide or authorize the manufacturer to provide RMLD with access to the load management devices' hourly data.
- If electrical work is required, the device must be installed by a licensed electrician.
- An RMLD Utility Authorization Number (UAN) is required.
- A Town Wiring Inspection is required post-installation (A Town Electrical Permit is a prerequisite to the wiring inspection).
Pre-Installation:
- The contractor must call RMLD at 781-942-6598 to obtain a Utility Authorization Number (UAN).
- If electrical work is required, the contractor must obtain a Town Electrical Permit.
Post-Installation:
- The contractor must ensure that the Town Wiring Inspection is completed.
Submit application and supporting documentation to Load Management Device Rebate Application.
Required Supporting Documentation:
- Proof of Purchase (must include description of item, purchase date, price paid, and purchased from)
- Equipment Specification Sheet
- Photo of the installed equipment
- Photo of serial number on the equipment
- Signed Customer Data Sharing and Time-of-Use Rate Agreement, which will be emailed for e-signature after the application is submitted
- Invoice with line items specific to load management device and installation
Application Deadline: Application and supporting documentation must be received within 180 days of final wiring inspection.
Payment Method: Rebate will be issued as a bill credit.
