Connected Homes

Connected Homes logoReading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) is now offering Connected Homes as part of our effort to Shred the Peak and keep rates low. Our Connected Homes program leverages the technology of smart appliances and devices to achieve cost savings for RMLD and its customers. The optional program allows RMLD to help customers better manage the electric load, keep rates low, and achieve non-carbon goals.

With Connected Homes, you will:

  • Enroll your eligible smart devices
  • Allow brief, limited adjustments to your devices during times of peak electric demand
  • Agree to be notified of adjustments through text and/or email
  • Receive a quarterly bill credit from RMLD for your participation

You will always have the option to opt out of a scheduled adjustment via text. Consistent participation with enrolled devices will qualify customers for the Connected Homes bill credit.

To review eligible devices, incentives, and more details, visit the RMLD Connected Homes Page at Next Zero.

To enroll an eligible device, visit the RMLD Connected Homes Sign Up Form.

Thank you for continuing to Shred the Peak to keep rates low!

Connected Homes is made possible through a partnership with Next Zero and MMWEC. The Connected Homes program is operated by Next Zero and will be serviced by their support team as needed.
