Pumpkin Decorating Contest

About the Contest

Kids are invited to decorate a sugar pumpkin with an electricity-themed design and submit a photo of their pumpkin to be considered for one of three grand prizes (one per age group). All participants will receive an RMLD goody bag.pumpkins

STEP 1: GRAB A PUMPKIN

A limited number of free sugar pumpkins were available to contest participants on a first-come, first-served basis. 

STEP 2: GET INSPIRED

Watch RMLD’s “A Day in the Life of an RMLD Lineworker” video for ideas and inspiration. Do some internet research or visit your local library to learn more about electricity.

STEP 3: GET CREATIVE

Decorate that pumpkin! Feel free to use paint, markers, stickers, or even carve it (with parental supervision only please!). Remember, pumpkins must have an electricity-themed design to qualify for prizes.

STEP 4: COMPLETE VIRTUAL SUBMISSION

Submissions were due by October 11, 2021 (updated from the original October 10th deadline due to the Columbus Day holiday).

STEP 5: PRIZES!!

Each child who submits a photo that meets the criteria will be sent an RMLD goody bag by mail. Please allow at least 30 days for shipping. 

One grand-prize winner will be selected for each age group: ages 5-7, ages 8-10, and ages 11-13. Each grand prize winner will receive a $75 Amazon gift card for school or art supplies. Winners will be announced by October 22, 2021.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Pumpkins are available for contest participants only. One pumpkin per child please. Children who do not receive a free pumpkin from RMLD may still participate in the contest. 
  • Children must be aged five through thirteen and have a parent or guardian that lives in RMLD’s service area to participate and be eligible for prizes.  
  • Pumpkin must be decorated with an electricity-themed design to be eligible for prizes.  
  • Pumpkin photo must be submitted to www.rmld.com by October 11, 2021 at 11:59 pm to be eligible for prizes. 
  • One submission per child. 

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

  • All submissions will be posted to RMLD’s website along with the first and last name, age, and town of residence of the child who decorated the pumpkin.
  • First and last name, age, and town of residence of the grand prize winners will be posted to the RMLD website and included in RMLD outreach materials such as press releases and email newsletters.
