RMLD awards $2000 grant to Woburn Street School

Reading, MA, June 23, 2008:  Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) General Manager Vinnie Cameron presents a $2,000 RMLD energy efficient grant to  Woburn Street School Principal Robert Arsenault and Assistant Principal Lisa King at the June RMLD Board meeting at 230 Ash Street in Reading.  Woburn Street students were successful in achieving the highest percentage of pledges in Wilmington, encouraging 61 families to change 948 standard light bulbs to compact fluorescent bulbs, saving 267,336 kWh of energy, saving $24,862 and preventing 387,732 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions.  Reading, North Reading, Wilmington and Lynnfield elementary schools teamed with RMLD to support Energy Star’s Change a Light, Change the World campaign.
