RMLD awards $2000 grant to Huckleberry Hill School

Reading, MA, June 23, 2008: Reading Municipal Light Department General Manager Vinnie Cameron presents a $2,000 RMLD energy efficient grant to Huckleberry Hill School Principal Mary Beth Shea at the June RMLD Board meeting at 230 Ash Street in Reading. Huckleberry Hill students were successful in achieving the highest percentage of pledges in RMLD’s four-town territory, encouraging 126 families to change 1,703 standard light bulbs to compact fluorescent bulbs, saving 480,246 kWh of energy, saving $44,663 and preventing 696,527 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions. Reading, North Reading, Wilmington and Lynnfield elementary schools teamed with RMLD to support Energy Star’s Change a Light, Change the World campaign.
