RMLD awards $2000 grant to Batchelder School

Reading, MA, June 23, 2008: Reading Municipal Light Department General Manager Vinnie Cameron presents a $2,000 RMLD energy efficient grant to Batchelder School Principal Sean Killeen at the June RMLD Board meeting at 230 Ash Street in Reading. Batchelder students were successful in achieving the highest percentage of pledges in North Reading, encouraging 108 families to change 1,640 standard lightbulbs to compact fluorescent bulbs, saving 462,480 kWh of energy, saving $ 43,011 and preventing 670,760 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions. Reading, North Reading, Wilmington and Lynnfield elementary schools teamed with RMLD to support Energy Star’s Change a Light, Change the World campaign.
