Reading, MA, July 29, 2011 – The cost of streetlighting in the Town of Wilmington is on its way down as a result of Reading Municipal Light Department’s (RMLD) recently completed cost of service study that warranted a decrease in its streetlight rate.
RMLD filed its revised streetlight rate with the Department of Public Utilities and the new rate takes effect August 1.
“We estimate that the Town of Wilmington will save approximately $60,000 on its streetlight bill for the 2012 fiscal year,” said RMLD General Manager Vinnie Cameron. “
The estimate is based on Wilmington’s current inventory of streetlights and the fuel charge billed in the 2011 fiscal year. If either one of these variables change, the savings will adjust.
