RMLD meter upgrade continues in Wilmington
Reading, MA, July 12, 2011 –Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) will continue its meter upgrade project during July in Wilmington on Crystal and March Roads, Ox Bow Drive, Brentwood, Morse and Woodside  Avenues and 660 through 900 Main Street.  During the upgrade, RMLD personnel will remove existing residential meters and install new ones.
Customers whose meters require replacement will experience a brief outage of five minutes during the upgrade. RMLD personnel will attempt to notify each customer by knocking on the front door of individual residences immediately before the meters are changed.
Scheduling information will be posted on the RMLD website, www.rmld.com and in the Wilmington newspapers.
“We have experienced a very fluid process, but there is a possibility that areas scheduled for replacement may be rescheduled.  We thank our customers for their patience during this project,” said RMLD’s Engineering and Operations Manager Kevin Sullivan.
“The meters scheduled for replacement are approximately 15 years old and are reaching the end of their useful life,” Sullivan added. “The new meters will improve both efficiency and reliability, and will also offer the possibility of providing enhanced energy usage information to customers.  If your meter has been replaced within the past few years, it may not need to be replaced.”
Please visit the RMLD website at www.rmld.com for further details. Any questions or concerns should be directed to RMLD Customer Service at 781-944-1340 or 781-942-6598.
